Former hospital manager sentenced to federal prison for defrauding employer, money laundering, and tax evasion
April 3, 2024 — Timothy S. Gilbert of Milton, FL, was sentenced to three years in federal prison after having previously pled guilty to twenty-two counts of wire fraud, ten counts of money laundering, and four counts of tax evasion. Jason R. Coody, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida announced the sentence.

Former IRS employee sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for scheme to defraud IRS and commit identity theft
May 8, 2023 — Deena Vang Lee, of Fresno, was sentenced today to four years and six months in prison and ordered to pay $191,597 in restitution following her convictions for preparing and filing false tax returns for other individuals, underreporting her own taxable income on her personal tax returns, and committing wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

Former City of Kenner director of inspection and code enforcement sentenced to 46 months imprisonment
April 6, 2023 — The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced today that United States District Court Judge Lance M. Africk sentenced James Mohamad, of Kenner, to forty-six (46) months imprisonment. Mohamad pleaded guilty to conspiracy to using an interstate facility with intent to carry on unlawful activity (Title 18, United States Code, Sections 371 and 1952(a)(3)) and filing false tax returns (Title 26, United States Code, Section 7206(1)). Additionally, Mohamad was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine, $314,902 in restitution to the IRS, and a mandatory $200 special assessment fee. Upon release from imprisonment, he will serve a three (3) year term of supervised release.
