Former Mercyhealth executive sentenced for kickback scheme

May 4, 2022 — Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Barbara Bortner, Milton, Wisconsin, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to 3 ? years in prison for wire fraud and tax evasion. Bortner, the former Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations at Mercyhealth in Janesville, pleaded guilty to these charges on October 14, 2021.

September 15, 2023 — The owner and CEO of a Lexington toxicology lab, Ronald Coburn pleaded guilty on Tuesday, before Chief U.S. District Judge Danny Reeves, to health care fraud and tax evasion. The compliance officer of the same lab, Erica Baker pleaded guilty on Friday to a health care fraud conspiracy with Coburn.

Brentwood woman sentenced to 81 months in prison for serial tax fraud, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft

May 5, 2022 — Jehoaddan Wilson was sentenced in federal court today to 81 months for filing false tax claims, wire fraud, and aggravated identity theft in a tax fraud scheme that caused losses of $902,040, announced United States Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds and Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) Special Agent in Charge Mark H. Pearson. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Jon S. Tigar.
