Nov. 22, 2024 — A pair of repairmen that earned more than $1.5 million from elderly customers for home repair services appeared in federal court today and pleaded guilty to tax fraud, announced Dena J. King, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. David Angelo Quick of Charlotte, and Tony Joshua Christo formerly of Charlotte, now residing in Florida, pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return.

Romero announced that Christian Dunbar of Philadelphia, PA, the former Philadelphia City Treasurer, was sentenced to six months in prison, 3 years of supervised release, a $10,000 fine, and $33,202.00 in restitution to the IRS by United States District Court Judge Cynthia M. Rufe. His U.S. citizenship will also be revoked. As part of his application to become a U.S. citizen, Dunbar made multiple false statements, submitted altered citizenship papers, and failed to file federal tax returns in three separate tax years.

Simpson, Special Agent in Charge of IRS Criminal Investigation in New England, announced that Dimitrios Kassimis, also known as Jimmy Kassimis, of Old Saybrook, waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty today before U.S. District Judge Omar A. Williams in Hartford to one count of tax evasion.
